====== Discussions ====== ===== Overview ===== Discussion forums allow learners and educators to have structured conversations linked to lessons, courses, or general class topics. Discussions are class-scoped — only class members can participate. ===== Creating a Discussion Topic ===== - Navigate to your class → **Discussions → New Topic** - Enter a title and opening prompt - Choose: open discussion or moderated (posts need educator approval) - Set a close date (optional — topic stays open until manually closed if not set) - Pin to the top of the discussion list (optional) ===== Participating ===== - Learners navigate to **Discussions** from their class dashboard - Click a topic to view and reply - Replies can be text-only or include an uploaded image - Educators can reply to any post ===== Moderation ===== In moderated discussions: - Posts appear in the **Moderation Queue** before going live - Educators approve or reject from the queue - Rejected posts can be flagged for follow-up with the learner ===== Noticeboard ===== The **Noticeboard** is distinct from discussions — it is one-way educator-to-learner communication: - Navigate to **Noticeboard → Post Notice** - Notices appear on the learner's class dashboard - Notices can have an expiry date - Noticeboard engagement (views) is tracked in [[educator:analytics|Analytics]]
