Discussions
Overview
Discussion forums allow learners and educators to have structured conversations linked to lessons, courses, or general class topics. Discussions are class-scoped — only class members can participate.
Creating a Discussion Topic
- Navigate to your class → Discussions → New Topic
- Enter a title and opening prompt
- Choose: open discussion or moderated (posts need educator approval)
- Set a close date (optional — topic stays open until manually closed if not set)
- Pin to the top of the discussion list (optional)
Participating
- Learners navigate to Discussions from their class dashboard
- Click a topic to view and reply
- Replies can be text-only or include an uploaded image
- Educators can reply to any post
Moderation
In moderated discussions:
- Posts appear in the Moderation Queue before going live
- Educators approve or reject from the queue
- Rejected posts can be flagged for follow-up with the learner
Noticeboard
The Noticeboard is distinct from discussions — it is one-way educator-to-learner communication:
- Navigate to Noticeboard → Post Notice
- Notices appear on the learner's class dashboard
- Notices can have an expiry date
- Noticeboard engagement (views) is tracked in Analytics
